Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between the dimensions of source credibility and feedback quality with the effectiveness of the practice of providing performance feedback. The respondents of the study consisted of evaluators and evaluated officers who served in secondary schools in Sarawak. This cross-sectional survey study uses online questionnaire technique through Google Forms application to collect survey data and the sampling technique used is cluster sampling technique. Data obtained from 388 evaluators and 2519 evaluated officers showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the dimensions of source credibility and feedback quality with the effectiveness of the practice of providing performance feedback according to respondents. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of a knowledge framework related to the variables studied. From an empirical aspect, the findings of the study provide important evidence that proves the importance of the dimensions of source credibility and quality of feedback in the practice of providing performance feedback especially in the field of education. From a practical aspect, the findings of the study are believed to provide useful input to various parties to formulate and improve policies related to human resource management. The next study is proposed to expand the reach of the study population on evaluators and evaluated officers who serve in primary schools in Sarawak, in primary and secondary schools throughout Malaysia as well as those who serve in district education offices, state education departments and divisions in Ministry of Education. In addition, it is also suggested that future studies use a longitudinal approach to gain a deeper understanding.
