Abstract

Following the Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by the government to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Malaysia and the world, the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) responded to this call to avoid meetings in public places to comply with all procedures. However, it is seen to affect the productivity of its citizens, especially students when all activities will be limited and disrupted. Therefore, students themselves need to take smart initiatives by holding student development programs online through existing social media. Hence the objective of this study is to examine the tendency of students to program throughout the movement control command (MCO). A total of 89 programs involving nine student associations of the Faculty of Management and Muamalah were conducted during the 2020/2021 session which began in March 2020 to February 2021. This study uses a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 113 students of the Faculty of Management and Muamalah. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential methods through frequency distribution and non-parametric tests to study the tendency of these students while joining activities. The findings of the study show that male and female students have the same tendency in joining program and there is no difference between them in terms of their tendency to change for the better. Students were also found to be preferred to join knowledge sharing programs and Instagram was identified as a social media that is frequently used by students to post. Finally, this study is of the view that although various programs cannot be conducted face to face, it does not prevent students from being active online.
