Gangguan seksual merupakan suatu tragedi bagi seorang wanita. Gangguan seksual memberi kesan yang buruk kepada emosi mangsa, kerjaya, rumah tangga serta kehidupan mereka secara keseluruhan. Mangsa gangguan seksual perlu dibela serta dibantu untuk mendapat pengadilan dan perlindungan. Justeru, artikel ini akan mengupas kemelut gangguan seksual yang berlaku dalam masyarakat. Teori-teori gangguan seksual juga akan dibincangkan, di samping mengetengahkan kesan gangguan seksual kepada wanita. Gangguan seksual boleh berlaku di mana-mana sahaja, sama ada di pejabat swasta, pejabat kerajaan, premis perniagaan, kilang, sekolah, malah di tempat-tempat awam. Akta gangguan seksual yang akan diusulkan oleh kerajaan nanti dijangkakan akan melindungi semua wanita di Malaysia. Ia merupakan langkah serius kementerian berkenaan untuk mempertahankan maruah wanita di tempat kerja, di tempat awam, dan di mana-mana sahaja. Langkah-langkah pencegahan juga perlu dirangka dan dilaksanakan bagi mengurangkan kes gangguan seksual. Mekanisma pencegahan yang komprehensif perlu dibangunkan di tempat kerja bagi melindungi wanita daripada terus menjadi mangsa. Unit atau bahagian berkaitan seperti bahagian sumber manusia perlu mengambil langkah aktif bagi membanteras gangguan seksual di tempat kerja. Polisi gangguan seksual perlu disampaikan dengan jelas kepada semua kakitangan supaya mereka tahu apa yang patut dilakukan jika mereka menjadi mangsa.
Sexual harassment adversely affects victim’s emotion, career, marriage and her life as a whole. The victim of sexual harassment need to be protected and supported to fight for justice and protection. Thus, this article will uncover the issue of sexual harassment which occur in the society. The theories of sexual harassment will be discussed, as well as the effects of it on women. Sexual harassment can take place at any settings, including non-government offices, government offices, business premises, factories, schools, and even at public places. Sexual harassment act that will be proposed by the government is expected to protect all women in Malaysia. It is a serious step by the ministry to safeguard the dignity of women at work places, public places, and anywhere. Prevention measures also need to be developed and implemented to reduce the cases of sexual harassment. A comprehensive prevention mechanisms need to be developed at the work place to protect women against sexual harassment. Unit or related departments such as human resource department need to apply powerful strategies to prevent sexual harassments at the work place. Policy on sexual harassment has to be clearly delivered to all employees so that they realize about the procedure if they become the victim.
